A Slumdog Feast

February 22, 2009

My husband and I went to the movies yesterday.  Woah.  This is big news.  I do NOT like the movies.  The ambient temperature is inevitably uncomfortable, the germs skeeve me out, and in my opinion, the event in itself is simply over-priced.

But, :sigh:, the omnivore enjoys a date to the movies.  But I guess I usually win out.  Before yesterday, it had easily been a year since we set foot inside a theater.

As I was planning tonight’s dinner of curry-spiced veggies, lentils, and bulgur, I suddenly realized where my inspiration had come from.

My menu was distinctly Indian, obviously as a result of seeing Slumdog Millionaire.  This film was excellent.  The story was heart-warming, the film technique superb, and it left me thinking maybe going to the movie theater is an event worth annying up for.  The recipes for our meal are linked below.
